Oratorio Singers 30th Anniversary Concert, March 21

Join the Oratorio Singers, Westfield's Musical Treasure, with Musical Director Trent Johnson to celebrate their 30th anniversary concert on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 3pm at the First United Methodist Church, One East Broad St., Westfield NJ. General admission is $20, Students/ seniors $15.
Enjoy Coronation Anthems by GF Handel, Easter Oratorio, BWV 249 by JS Bach, and world premieres of Celebration Overture by Trent Johnson and Prayer and Litany for the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi by Philip R. Dietterich, founding Oratory Music Director.

A Tribute to the Creator of The Addams Family
|
|
A very special tribute will be paid to Charles Addams, the creator of The Addams Family, in Westfield, New Jersey. The Westfield Board of Education, The Downtown Westfield Corporation, The Westfield Historical Society and The Charles Addams Art Scholarship will be unveiling six huge wooden letters that spell out the name ADDAMS. Each letter will be decorated by the Westfield school system. It has been described as "...a cross between The Hollywood sign and The Cow Parade." It will be a combination of original artwork and cartoons. Some of those images will come from THE ADDAMS FAMILY A NEW MUSICAL, which debuts on Broadway April 8, 2010.
Our special event will take place on Monday, April 5th, 2010 at 1 pm in Westfield. Check back for details soon!

The museum is open from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. Costumed docents are on hand to guide visitors through the 1740 farmhouse. Open-hearth cooking demonstrations take place in the Frazee Building each Sunday. Please ask about our weekday tours for groups and our Showcase of 18th Century Skills, which visits local schools with an outreach crafts and lecture programs. The museum office is open weekday mornings from 9 a.m. – noon.

On Friday, April 23, 2010 - Troupe of Friends presents a free evening of Shakespeare: The Sonnets.
7pm until we finish! come, read, listen, enjoy old worlds, make new friends..
Any and all are welcome to come, "take a number" and relax as we(you, us) recite the 154 poems that make up the Complete Sonnets of William Shakespeare.
